what is the teeth whitening procedure like?
At We Care Dental Care, we offer KöR whitening, which is a cosmetic treatment that can be performed at home. Instead of coming into the office and sitting in the dental chair where traditionally cheek protractors and an array of other precautions will be taken to protect your gums and cheeks from the whitening gel, all you need to do is come into the dentist for one appointment.
At this appointment, we will examine your teeth and ensure you’re a good candidate for teeth whitening and are in good oral health. Then, impressions will be taken of your teeth and sent to a dental lab that will create custom-fit whitening trays that you will wear at home. Once your trays are ready, you’ll return to the office to pick them up and can be on your way.
At-home whitening treatment takes about 2 weeks to achieve the final results. Since the whitening isn’t performed in a single session under intense UV-activated peroxide, your teeth are gradually whitened each day you wear your whitening trays.

How Does the KöR At-Home Whitening System Work?
The KöR home whitening system addresses deep-set stains inside of the tooth rather than just surface stains, unlike other whitening treatments. Hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide is applied to the whitening trays and the specially designed KöR whitening trays effectively seal out saliva from seeping under the gumline.
Saliva contamination is a common reason for the deactivation of the bleaching agent. The KöR Night system effectively penetrates deep stains and seals out saliva for 8 hours overnight while you sleep. For patients who are unable to wear whitening trays overnight, we offer KöR Day whitening trays which are to be worn once or twice a day for 30-60 minutes at a time.
Both treatments will take at least 2 weeks. If needed, KöR Day can be used for a little longer than 2 weeks to achieve the desired results.
benefits of teeth whitening
It’s no secret that whiter, brighter teeth can result in a more aesthetically pleasing smile and can boost a patient’s confidence. However, it can also have a significant impact on your career and social life. According to studies, having a whiter smile can make you more likely to land a job. Research on the perception of whiter teeth has also demonstrated a halo effect in which people perceive whiter smiles as being more trustworthy, intelligent, and professional.
how long does it last?
KöR whitening can leave you with permanent results if you wear your trays for at least 14 consecutive trays and do some maintenance treatments when you need a touch-up. Regular teeth whitening typically lasts between 6 months to 3 years. To ensure your smile stays white and bright, limit your consumption of stainings foods and drinks such as coffee and wine and abstain from smoking.
is whitening treatment painful?
No, there is nothing painful about getting your teeth whitened. A common side effect of having your teeth whitened is tooth sensitivity. However, our special whitening formula contains desensitizing agents that reduce this effect. You will also be given toothpaste for sensitive teeth. The desensitizing gel is most effective when used before getting your teeth whitened.
